What We've Been Up To (May 2020)

The last few months have been an odd and trying time for everyone - the B3 Media team are hoping everyone’s safe and well! We’re still doing our best to support our network during these times through offering advice, resources and conversations. If you feel you’d like to have a chat with us, please do drop us a line at projects@b3media.net

In the meantime, we’ve been busy and keeping things going behind the scenes:

We’ve moved!

As OvalHouse Theatre has now officially relocated, B3 Media have moved to our new home in Brixton! We’re excited to be back in Brixton and will be announcing our new programme soon. We also look forward to continuing our work at the brand new site called Brixton House when it opens in Spring 2021!

Creative Catalyst

2020 was the debut year of Creative Catalyst, our junior programme partnered with our long running TalentLab. We worked with 14 participants over a few weeks with TalentLab alumni who are leaders in their creative fields and they got to experience a range of workshops, experiment with VR equipment, mentor support and events workshop activities hosted by BFI’s Future Festival and Tate Collective (Tate Modern). The programme closed with a showcase to a panel of industry professionals in March. We received a lot of positive feedback from our partners and our group, who feel empowered and equipped to continue their creative journey!

Creative Catalyst will return October/November 2020, and we’re currently planning the programme.

B3 TalentLab

We’ve been following our 2019 cohort who have gone on to further develop and shoot their projects, which has been amazing to see! We’re currently putting together this year’s programme and devising methods of how to run our workshops - keep an eye out on our website and social media for updates.

The Strike at Imperial Typewriters

Over the course of 2019, the exhibition held at Leicester Museum commemorated the 45th anniversary of the Strike at The Imperial Typewriter Factory which helped transform the city and the country.

Whilst the exhibition has now closed, much of the work can be viewed on our website here! You can explore interviews with those who were part of the strike and hear oral histories of what that time was like. We’re also currently exploring ways to continue the legacy of this project, so keep an eye on things coming soon!

The B3 Media team hopes you’re all doing as well as can be in these times. If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch with us!
