Our guest tutors this year included Nelson George, Roger Robinson, Hank Starrs, Kibwe Tavares and B3 alumnus Nosa Eke and Iona Firouzabadi. Throughout the programme in September, Nelson held inspiring masterclasses each morning and in the afternoon our cohort were lead through different workshops by our fantastic guest tutors. The group were able to grow their storytelling skills with Ben Payne, reconsider the art of sound design with Larry Sider, explore digital storytelling with David Varela and experience VR with Ben Carlin.

After the four days, our cohort were invited to resubmit their projects for the next stage of the programme. B3 Media then selected nine people to move on to the final part of TalentLab.

Our final nine received extra help with a bursary, Pitching Weekend and a Funding and Financials advice session. They worked hard on their pitches which they presented at the B3 Futures Showcase in central London with an audience of industry insiders who offer invaluable feedback and the all important follow up meeting with possible doors opening.

Testimonials from the audience include:

“Talent is the right word - amazing!”- J.Young

“Brilliant collection of diverse projects” - C.De Souza

“Great evening, great variety of ideas and concepts!” - L.Bhatti

TalentLab 2019 drew to a close with an important roundtable meeting with BFI executives and a farewell drinks with mentors and supporters at the end of November.

B3 Media aims to support artists who look at the world in a different way and want to tell powerful, transformative stories across disciplines. We’ve had a wonderful response from our alumnus this year - testimonials include:

It has been a real pleasure to work with this year’s cohort, and we’d like to thank them for their hard work and openness in participating in the programme this year. We wish all our participants much success in the world, and are happy to welcome them into the wider B3 Media network!

We’d also like to thank our alumni, mentors, speakers, crew and supporters. We would expressly like to acknowledge the entire Nottingham University’s Horizon/Mix Reality Labs researchers and team, The Arts Council England and ScreenSkills for their continued support of the programme.
