B3 Origin is the exclusive program designed for diverse creatives in film, digital media, visual arts, and theatre.

What is B3 Origin looking for?
We want to see ideas for a creative project that has a fresh, original or unexpected perspective. Non-genre, genre and cross-genre films are all welcome.
We are especially keen to find emerging creative talent who have digital project ideas and projects that explore new methods of storytelling.
Who can apply?
To apply, you must:
Reside in the UK.
Be Black, Asian or minority ethnic.
Be over 18 years of age and not in full-time education (on or after Summer 2023).
You must demonstrate experience in a related creative discipline. We’re flexible, but here are some examples: film, photography, theatre, music, sound design, spoken word, graphics (2D/3D), animation, immersive/XR, or visual arts.
Have an idea for a creative project that has a fresh, original or unexpected perspective.
How will the programme work?
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Development Workshop Week with Nelson George - Dates: 10th to 13th July
Kick off the program with an exciting in-person development workshop week led by the talented Nelson George, a renowned writer, producer, and director. The workshop will be held at Brixton House Theatre space in London.

During this intensive workshop week, it is essential for participants to attend in person at Brixton. This immersive experience offers a unique opportunity for you to connect, network, and collaborate with fellow participants as part of a dynamic cohort.
Bespoke Mentoring Sessions via Zoom - Dates (17th July 2023 to 11th August 2023)
The second part of the program is customised to your specific needs, empowering you to refine your ideas and receive valuable feedback from B3 and your mentor. Benefit from three personalised one-on-one sessions conducted via Zoom between 17th July 2023 and 11th August 2023. We’ll agree times in adavance with all participants. These tailored sessions are designed to:

Create a strategic plan for advancing your project
Establish a clear roadmap to navigate your professional creative journey
Final Presentation and Next Steps
In the final week of the program, you will focus on crafting your final presentation. We will provide expert guidance to help you refine your pitch, offer feedback, and provide valuable ideas to propel you forward in the next phase of your creative journey following the program.
Who will lead the sessions?
The development week (10th - 13th July) will be led by our mentor, Nelson George, in person at Brixton House Theatre in London. During weeks 2 - 4 (from 24th July to 11th Aug), the bespoke phase of the program will be led by Marc Boothe (B3 Media founder/ Creative Director) in collaboration with B3’s industry and alumni mentor network. Our mentors, who come from the screen, digital, and arts sectors, include producers, directors, writers, artists, animators, and multidisciplinary creative practitioners working in film, arts, multi-platform/immersive, and media.

How much does it cost?
Programme fee
B3 Origin recognises the importance of supporting the vibrant and diverse creative community. As a demonstration of our support and appreciation, we have decided to waive the program fee for all selected participants.
Selected participants who are based outside London will receive travel bursaries to cover their expenses for attending the development week from 10th to 13th July, 2023.
What do I need for my application?
To apply, you will need to submit the following:

Examples of your work (such as a showreel/ website, Instagram, etc.).
An idea/treatment*: Outline, proposal, treatment, etc. – If it’s an early-stage idea, don’t worry, that’s OK.
What to prepare
When filling out the online application form, you will be asked to tell us about your experience, your goals, and your idea. Please think about what you want to tell us before you start the application.
You will be asked to show us examples of your work.
You will also be asked about your project idea, its genre, the format you want to work in, and the inspiration for your idea.
What is the deadline?
Submit your application by 5th July 2023 18:00 BST. The deadline is final.

Please only submit to Origin electronically. We cannot accept or return entries sent to us by post. If you cannot upload your supporting materials (showreel, short film) to our system, get in touch so that we can discuss how you can send your materials to us.

When you’ll hear from us
We will let you know by 7th July if your application has been successful. We regret that we cannot provide individual feedback to unsuccessful candidates.
